plaine
sounds good to me
Based in Charleston, South Carolina, Chris Brown (plaine) has been making music since childhood. As a classically-trained pianist, trumpeter and fanatical wordsmith, his sound is a blend of chamber pop, electronic, pop/rock and singer/songwriter genres, having been influenced by artists such as Pink Floyd, Sigur Rós, Radiohead, Nine Inch Nails and Public Enemy. He combines thoughtful, concise lyrics with catchy pop hooks and phrases to produce a modern electro-rock and classical sound with lyrical depth. In 2020, he began recording and releasing new music aimed at marrying catchy sounds with relatable lyrics.
Born and raised around York, Pennsylvania, Chris was immersed in music growing up, learning to play piano and trumpet. After college, he spent over a decade in New Orleans, which included recording keyboards and playing live in the indie rock band, Endian. During this same time, he was also creating his own design and branding studio, Plaine Studios, with his wife Jacee. Being surrounded by creativity in music, photography, visual design and video for most of his waking hours, Chris decided that a leap back into music was long overdue when he began recording again at his home studio in Charleston in 2020.
Today, Chris is working on songs about the modern human condition. Recently released singles “I’ll Be OK” and “Postcard” exemplify the direction of the forthcoming songs being released monthly through 2024. They aim to reflect the depth of the human experience in an engaging, modern rock way coupled with classical music & orchestral instrumentation. They’ll be compiled into an album when complete entitled “Sounds Good To Me”.
Rough mixes and demos of unreleased songs provided upon request.

lyrics
See this
“Someday”, you tell me
All the time
I can’t believe anything you say
And now I’m watching you
And all the things you do
When I should really swipe away
So many ways and times
You say you’re fine
I can’t believe anything you say
Hey now I’m over your lies
And what you advertise
It’s time to break this cracked display
See this
i’ll be ok

lyrics
Hear me out
I’ve thought this through a thousand ways without
A resolution that can bring about
The kind of change that will relieve the doubt
That tomorrow will be a better day
Just tell my friends that I’m OK
I’m OK
Just tell me that I’ll be OK
It’s my heart
I feel the cancer ripping me apart
It’s in my head now and won’t let me start
To wake up now and let me be a part
Oh please help me to find the middle way
You tell me that I’ll be OK
I’m OK
Just tell me that I’ll be OK
Tomorrow will be another day
i’m sorry

lyrics
Now the door has been slammed
Water’s over the dam
Memories of who we used to be are flooding by me
All the songs that you sang
All the pictures we hang on the walls start to fade like the plans that we made
Wondering how
Things will work out
If you don’t listen to me
Hey, this is my guilty plea
Where are you now
I’m starting to doubt
That this one big bet we made
Will ever be properly paid
If I say that I’m sorry, will I see you again?
I can’t live without
Singing for you now
You can draw it out
But soon I know you’ll be right back home
And I’ll tell you how
I’ll say sorry now
I was wrong and I promise
I promise I’ll learn

lyrics
That makes fifteen times that you threw down your phone again
(Can you hear me)
And that makes fifteen times I’ve melted to the floor
(Can you hear me)
Broken hearts
Broken screens
Exploding parts and soulful screams
How many more times til we don’t do this anymore
Don’t have even half the number of words to say I’m sorry
Don’t have even half the number of words to say I care
Don’t have even half the number of words to say I’m sorry
Don’t have even half the number of words to say I care

lyrics
Right now, I’m feeling…
I’m feeling so empty and I know, yeah I know, that I really should just let this go.
But baby, all these people, they all made me… said “don’t ignore” and “please speak up more”, so I’ll give them just what they asked for.
Now it shouldn’t faze me, but these people, they’ve gone crazy!
Yeah I know…let it go.
But I’m so mad I just want to blow!
I’m not shy or lazy, it’s these people, they’ve gone crazy!
Who’d I know?
Where’d they go?
To somewhere that I’ll never know.
So I say goodbye my old friend.
Don’t forget to send me a postcard… a thing or two.

lyrics
Come with me
The water’s fine
No sharks in here
But there’s a hurricane
I felt a drop of rain
Just stop, I’ve done this a million times
And I trust you with my life?
Well, ok then just a walk out on the shore
And nothing more
Don’t be such a bore
I’ll keep you safe and I’ll make you smile
Ok, I’ll go if you say so
And when the waves come crashing in
Then you’ll ask me if I want to swim
You’ll take my hand then you’ll push me in
Walk the other way, then turn and grin
Save me
From all those things that you gave me
Now you’ll save me
From all those things that you gave me
Now you’ll…
Some might say
That if I stay
You’ll push and you’ll shove but you’ll bomb me with love
So here I’ll stay
For another day
What they don’t know
Is that you are my hero
And when the waves come crashing in
Then you’ll ask me if I want to swim
You’ll take my hand then you’ll push me in
Walk the other way, then turn and grin
And now you’ll save me
From all those things that you gave me
Now you’ll save me
From all those things that you gave me
Now you’ll save me
From all those things that you gave me
If I tell you that you’re my hero
Will you promise that you won’t let go
Now you’ll save me

lyrics
Can you
Imagine the view
If you could see through
My eyes when I’m gazing
You’ll see the world all around you just blurs
And all I hear are your words
As we stand here embracing
When I find myself worried
Carried away by my thoughts
So scared of that cold world out there
You bring me back inside to your warm place
Promise me that you’ll never leave because you’re all I need
How many times have I told you so
In so many ways but you just don’t know
Why does it seem that you’re never listening?

lyrics
I already know
And that’s what I told you
So don’t try to tell me
All that now
Just hold me close
At least that’s how the story goes
But I’m not so sure of that now
We’ve been here before
But if I’m wrong, we’ll fake it
And noone will dare call us out
I know we’ll make it
We’ll figure it out
Somehow we’ll get through it
Somehow
Somehow we’ll get through it
Somehow
I know we’ll get through it
Somehow

lyrics
I’m sorry you left me and I’m sorry I stayed.
I’m sorry to tell you that I miss you today.
I want you to hear me, because I wanted to say, that if you come back tomorrow, I’ll meet you halfway.
The colors… they stay.
But the faces all change.
This spinning wheel won’t break down.
